The weather in Southeast Alaska is exciting, and changes quickly. It has the reputation of being a rainy place; it is in fact a rainforest! It can also be sunny, even warm!
In the summer, daytime high's range from 55-80 degrees, nightime low's around 40-50 at the coldest.
Water is life in this region! This rainforest is an absoultley incredible ecosystem, supporting diverse plant life.
It is not uncommon to sleep under a tree almost 1,000 years old! We camp in old growth forests of cedar, spruce, and hemlock, hosting thousands of moss, lichen, mushroom, and flower species.
We are lucky enough to have incredible wildlife interactions in Alaska. On a Fathoms' trip, expect to see whales, bears, dolphins, salmon, and countless seastars.
We take in precautions while at camp to safeguard against unwanted bear interactions. Bears are a reality of this area, but dangerous encounters are rare.
