Fathoms Alaska’s mission is to provide a unique outdoor classroom that immerses our clients in the richness of Southeast Alaska, a canvas for them to explore our core concepts: environmental understanding, self-actualization, experiential education, and community engagement.
We value Southeast Alaska and British Columbia, Canada’s unique history, ecosystems, and species. We are responsible for contributing positively to their current and future health and well-being through conscious stewardship, respect, and gratitude.
We value open and respectful relationships with sovereign Alaska Native Nations, organizations, community members, and local businesses. Only through trusting relationships can we collaborate on ways to honor Indigenous and local culture, and foster opportunities for connection. We encourage respectful curiosity, learning, and exchange between the diverse cultures represented by our clients and employees.
We value applicable education: accurate information about relevant topics, reliable resources, diverse perspectives, and creative inquiries. Personal knowledge and interests complement new learning when clients and staff practice a culture of humility, autonomy, and a growth mindset. Nature provides an influential foundation for development for all ages.
We value our opportunity to positively contribute to local commerce by prioritizing purchasing and contracting with local businesses, individuals, and organizations when feasible. We welcome input from Wrangell and other Southeast Alaska residents about how Fathoms may support specific community needs with our unique programing and resources.
